In honor of International Women’s Day, I thought I’d talk a bit about all the women who have shaped me into the person I am today, because I know some pretty fantastic ladies:
She is my best friend, role model and the most important person in my life. She is kind and dynamic and incredibly selfless. The relationship we have is more precious to me than anything else, and, while many people may claim to have this title, I truly have the greatest mom.
Lessons learned: Strength is found in love; love means telling the truth.
Claire & Margaret
Since joining our family when I was 4, my sisters have been the driving forces behind shaping who I am and who I strive to be. They challenge me to be the best person I can, and I’m so grateful for their candor, humor and the special bond we share, not as just sisters, but friends, as well.
Lessons learned: Forgiveness and unity are the most powerful allies.
Julie, Ashley & Haylie
Never did I imagine myself having such a deep connection with friends, so I’m continuously blown away by how significant these three are in my own personal well being and growth. Our relationship is once-in-a-lifetime: we are constantly uplifting one another through encouragement and accountability. One-on-one, we are best friends, but together, we are our best selves.
Lessons learned: Different points of view are more than exciting, they’re vital.
Alex & Jordan
Since the moment I meant these two, I have never laughed so hard and been so amazed by the sweetness of companionship. From our silly memories to the important conversations, Jordan and Alex have been with me through thick and thin, and I’m so grateful for their love.
Lessons learned: Being yourself far outweighs holding back from fear.
There are so many more women who have had a meaningful presence in my life, and I cannot emphasize how lucky I am to be surrounded by such inspiring people. I pray that I never take these relationships for granted because the road they’ve paved has led me to so many wonderful, good and beautiful blessings.
